I really need some help because the wifi on my computer struggles to connect so badly, I spend roughly 30 minutes to over an hour on a daily basis trying to fix this issue. When I open up my laptop, first, it says I am not connected to the internet even though I have it set to connect automatically to my apartment's. Then, when I try to connect, it says "cannot connect to this network.

I have never once had a connection problem on my phone, PS4, switch I know it's not the router. Sometimes that does the trick just fine, but most of the time, I just get the same message I always do and that it cannot connect to the wifi. I have tried doing a network reset several times and each time, it takes about 10 minutes to have the five minute warning pop up to come up and then when it's in the process of restarting, I get a blue screen and a frowny face saying something went wrong and it has to restart.

But, I thought that is what it was doing?? It does this every time and I am so confused on whether if it is supposed to do that or if that is a bad thing. I tried disabling my network device and enabling it and that doesn't work at all. If anything, it just sits there loading until I have to restart my computer because nothing is happening. Then, I tried to uninstall the network device which I know it automatically reinstalls upon restarting the computer and I have done that multiple times and it only works half the time Eventually, the issue becomes so bad that the wifi option just disappears.

It takes forever to load and then nothing shows up. It just gives me the option to put it into airplane mode and that's it. Even in the settings, the wifi options disappears. Then, I tried to avoid putting my computer to sleep and instead I fully turned it off.

That worked twice and I thought this would be my solution, but nope. The third time it all started again and I sat there for 45 minutes trying to get it to connect to the wifi. Heck, I have even forced turned off my computer and if I do that three times in a row, it seems to fix itself and that solution has worked about two or three times now I am the end of my rope and I am in tears. This computer is almost two years old and it was really expensive.

I took good care of it, making sure to charge it properly and make sure it doesn't get too hot or dusty I have made sure not to load too much onto the computer and other than a few glitches here and there, it was working fine until Microsoft forced an update a few months ago.

Then, as windows continued to update, fixing the other problems I had, the wifi got worse and worse and worse with each one. It used to only do this occasionally and a good restart or network reset would do the trick, and now it has transformed into a daily problem that nothing can fix.

Troubleshoot doesn't even know what to do. If I need to replace the wifi card or whatever it is called or buy a network adapter, then so be it, but I don't even know where to begin with that and I want to know what is wrong with my computer and if there is a solution before I try these things. Thank you for taking the time to read this and help me out. Sorry if I sound desperate here, it is just because I am so exhausted from having to spend so much time on solutions that don't work.

Have you checked with Lenovo to see if your model has WiFi hardware? Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback.

It started around October I think? It had a few problems here and there, but they weren't constant and had very quick easy fixes.

October is around the time it started happening a lot and got more complicated and then December is when it really got bad and that's when I had to start spending an hour a day trying to fix it over and over and over again. And a system restore won't delete any of my files or programs will it?

Because I am totally fine with doing that as long as all my stuff remains safe. And thank you so much for you dedication to help me solve this and all your solutions so far! I am crossing my fingers that one of them works and I'll keep up updated as I try them! Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Also is your WiFi 2. Do you have a router? How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to lacrumb's post on January 7, It used to be able to connect to the wifi without problems before recently and I was able to get it to connect after several tries of the things I listed above right now, so I assume it has wifi hardware?

I see network adaptors in the device manager. I have a router, but it is a box installed into the wall of my apartment, so I have never been able to access it. It is the speed of your WiFi. It is Gigabytes per second. If you have a router it will show there. Hi Layla. Do you know when this started? System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began.

If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started. I'll give you everything that works to fix Wifi so that at least something will work. Even if you've already tried a step please try or check it again in sequence.

Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. If you have the latest network driver then try on it's Driver tab also to Roll Back, or Uninstall and then restart PC to reinstall the driver. If you're pretty sure this caused it and it's too late, then if nothing else works I can help you reinstall an older version.

But try everything here first. Right click the network icon in System Tray at bottom right end of task bar to Troubleshoot Problems. Try plugging in by ethernet cable to the router to compare, then plug the ethernet cable into the modem if separate to see if this might be an issue with the router.

Try powering off modem, router and PC and then restarting in that order with 1 minute in between each. Your router manual is always available from the manufacturer's website for your exact model. You also are entitled to Support from your internet provider to get online on all devices.

This is always included in the monthly bill. If your router is less than a year old they will also Support getting it connected and optimized. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, and is also the most stable method to advance to the latest version. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

If you will wait to choose if I resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved. The pages appear to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the sites that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP Potentially Unwanted Products.

Thoroughly research any product advertised on the sites before you decide to download and install it. I was able to find my router, but it is screwed into the wall and so I can't see all the way around it. On the sides I can see, it doesn't say what the speed is. Did you find what the maker of the router was? System Restore will only remove what was installed since the date you're restoring back to, so back up any files since then.

Also monitor closely for the behavior if you reinstall any apps or make other changes so you can roll them back and stop using them as well. If System Restore doesn't help then proceed with the rest of the steps. I will be here to help until this case is resolved. This site in other languages x.
